Figure This

Our first night out together. Five Gals Having Fun!! What better way to start this adventure than with an inspirational movie, Hidden Figures, about women with courage, strength, determination and beauty. I love watching movies about real life events. What an example they have shown us of setting goals and never giving up. We are fortunate enough to live in a time where we don't have to struggle with the same sort of social restrictions and obstacles. But every person has their own personal struggles and mountains to climb. THIS is what we are doing this for ladies. We are sharing these events, these examples of inspiration, these uplifting stories, moments of beauty, so that we may learn, grow, better ourselves...together. Not to mention, we get to laugh and talk about things we want to talk about like crafts and projects. 😉

So, my goal is to come away from each experience with some sort of truth...whether new, or re-learned. This movie inspired me to remember to live each day with intent. To set goals. To find joy in accomplishing even the smallest thing. I printed the cards to hang on our mirrors to remind us of this. I'm not talking about trying to move mountains every single day. I'm talking about the little things. Acknowledging the simple things. Things we do daily and never give ourselves credit for. Each night as we go to bed, I challenge every one of us to list our accomplishments. " I cleaned the bathroom, I straightened the kitchen, I got up, got dressed, put makeup on and got out of the house." Let us remind ourselves that we deserve credit. That we are accomplishing things daily. We have purpose. We have meaning. Every day is a blessing and we will not waste another day feeling like we haven't done anything of value. My hope is that with each new day, we find ourselves recognizing our achievements without having to sit down and list them. My hope is that we find ourselves smiling while we are successfully tasking through the day. With every smile we improve our day. We all know that "If mom isn't happy, no one is happy." So, finding joy in the little things we do for ourselves improves the day for EVERYONE.

So, after we are able to recognize the little things, and we find ourselves in a happier, more confident place, we can progress in to setting goals for the next day. Go that much further. Tackle that junk drawer. Maybe do something for someone else. Send a kind note, smile at a stranger, help someone with something they are struggling with. Actually make plans to do something and follow through the next day. Make each day count. Make each day a joy. Find love and kindness in your heart toward your SELF because you are making a difference. Together we can accomplish great things.

This is my challenge for dreary January. I love you all, and appreciate all you do for me. Hope to see you smiling and finding joy in your day!! Thank you for a fun first night out!! P.S. Don't forget to use your facial masks!!
